In addition to our qualified Medical Staff, our Surgeon Director, Dr. Jerome Levy leads a staff of experienced, professional individuals who are vested in ensuring that each patient’s experience is a positive one.

Orthoptics and Joyce Lipsky-Santana, C.O., C.O.T.
Our Certified Orthoptist, Joyce Lipsky-Santana is a graduate of the Columbia Presbyterian School of Orthoptists and has worked with Dr. Levy for more than 30 years. She assists our Medical Staff in treating patients who are experiencing double vision, ocular motility and eye muscle problems. Her treatment includes therapeutic exercises, eye patching and prisms.
New York Eye Surgery Center is one of the few ophthalmic practices in the Bronx that offers an Orthoptics unit.
Ophthalmic Technicians and Diagnostic Testing Staff
Our well-trained ophthalmic and diagnostic technicians assist our Medical Staff in providing our patients with excellent care. They frequently participate in educational courses offered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) and many of them have earned their certifications as Ophthalmic Assistants and Technicians.
Our Technical-Testing Manager, Daniela Russo, has been with our practice for over 25 years and is a highly skilled ophthalmic technician, who is proficient in performing diagnostic tests.

Pre-Clinical Services, Surgical Counseling and Patient Accounts Departments
Our Pre-Clinical, Surgical Counseling and Patient Accounts staff cordially assists our patients with everything ranging from scheduling appointments for exams and surgeries to registration, insurance and billing inquiries.
The managers in these areas are long-term employees, who lead by example and ensure that their employees assist patients in a friendly, competent manner.
Administration
Our Practice Administrator, Gerard Scalera, has been with New York Eye Surgery Center for over a decade. Gerard makes certain that the entire staff performs to the highest standards and ensures our practice is compliant with all federal and state regulations. He supports our physicians and is always available to our employees and patients if assistance is needed.
